This first glitch art tutorial covers one form of manipulating a media file of a certain format, using software designed to edit files of another format. This is often referred to as Databending.
In this instance, I demonstrate how to databend images using audio software (Audacity).
In the video example below, I used a bitmap (.bmp) image to manipulate. You may experiment with other image file types. This can all be achieved with free software.
The process involves using plugins to affect the file and I have included links to below to additional plugins.
